Privacy Policy
1. Who PakaPaka is
This policy covers PakaPaka, the app you are using, currently operating in a limited service area. For any question about this policy, or to exercise the choices in Section 6, use Report a problem in the app, or write to pakapakashare@gmail.com — every report reaches PakaPaka directly.
2. What we collect
| Information | When |
|---|---|
| Name and phone number | When you create an account. Your phone number is verified with a one-time code (OTP). |
| Location | While you have an active trip open in the app, to match you to nearby villages and roads, and to show live progress on a started trip. PakaPaka does not collect your location in the background or when the app is closed. |
| Driver documents | Drivers only: a photo of your driving licence and vehicle registration certificate (RC), during registration. |
| Driver details | Drivers only: age, gender, vehicle type, and vehicle registration category (commercial/private). |
| Recipient details for a parcel | When you send a parcel: the recipient's name and phone number, so the driver can confirm delivery. |
| Trip and search activity | Routes you search or publish, and trips or parcels you complete, kept as your own history inside the app. |
| Incident reports | If you submit one: the category, description, and which trip or parcel it relates to. |
PakaPaka does not collect payment information, government ID numbers, or contacts from your phone.
3. How we use it
- To match passengers with nearby drivers and drivers with nearby demand
- To verify a driver's licence and vehicle before they can publish a trip
- To show live trip progress and estimated arrival while a trip is active
- To let a sender and driver confirm a parcel handoff
- To respond to incident reports and keep the pilot safe
PakaPaka does not use your information to show ads, and does not sell it to anyone.
4. Who can see it
- A matched driver or passenger sees the name and phone number needed to complete that specific trip or parcel — never before a match is accepted.
- Driver documents are stored privately and are visible only to PakaPaka's own review process, never posted publicly or shared with other drivers or passengers.
- No third party — no advertiser, data broker, or analytics company — receives your information. PakaPaka uses Supabase as its database and file storage provider, which processes data on PakaPaka's behalf under its own security practices, and does not use it for any purpose of its own.
- PakaPaka may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety of a user during an active safety incident.
5. How long we keep it
Your profile and trip history are kept while your account is active. Precise location is kept only for the duration of an active trip and a short window afterward for dispute resolution, then deleted — it is never retained indefinitely or used to build a location history. If you delete your account (Section 6), your personal information is deleted within 30 days, except where PakaPaka is required to keep a record by law (for example, an unresolved safety report).
6. Your choices & deletion
- You can clear your saved place and route history at any time from within the app.
- You can delete your own account directly from Profile — a two-tap confirmation, no waiting on a support request. You can also request deletion using Report a problem in the app, or by writing to pakapakashare@gmail.com.
- You can switch your app language at any time from Profile.
7. Security
All data travels over encrypted (HTTPS) connections. Driver documents are stored in a private location with no public link. Every part of the app enforces server-side checks on who can see what — a screen not showing something to you is never the only thing stopping you from seeing it.
8. Children
PakaPaka is not directed at children. Creating a passenger account requires a working mobile number; driving requires being at least 16 (18 for Car or Auto), consistent with Indian motor vehicle rules.
Terms of Service
1. What PakaPaka is (and isn't)
PakaPaka is a platform that helps people in its service area find a Bike, Auto or Car going their way, and helps drivers carry a parcel along a route they're already driving. PakaPaka does not own vehicles, employ drivers, or operate a taxi or courier service itself. A driver using PakaPaka sets their own route, seats and fare, and decides which requests to accept. PakaPaka does not dispatch drivers, set fares, or guarantee that a ride or parcel pickup will be available.
2. Using PakaPaka as a passenger
- You must provide accurate information and use a phone number you can verify.
- Shared Auto information shown in the app is indicative only — PakaPaka does not book, reserve, or guarantee a seat, and does not set the fare.
- A driver's first ride may be marked "New PakaPaka Driver" — this means their documents passed basic checks and full approval is still in progress. You'll always be told this before accepting.
- Once a driver accepts your request, any other pending requests you made are automatically cancelled.
3. Using PakaPaka as a driver
- You confirm you hold a valid driving licence and vehicle registration for the vehicle you register, and that both stay valid for as long as you use PakaPaka.
- You are legally responsible for your vehicle and your driving at all times — PakaPaka does not supervise, direct, or insure your driving.
- You set your own route, seats, and price. PakaPaka may show passengers the regular local fare for context but does not set or collect any fare itself.
- Your first trip may run under a provisional allowance while your documents are still under full review; further trips are blocked until an admin approves your account.
- You may accept or decline any request for any reason.
4. Sending and carrying parcels
- Prohibited items: cash, jewelry, medicines, and anything illegal, dangerous, or prohibited by law — including drugs, weapons, explosives, or stolen goods. Sending a prohibited item is a breach of these Terms.
- Whoever sends a parcel confirms it contains only lawful items and that its description is accurate.
- A driver who suspects a parcel's contents are unsafe or illegal should decline it and report it, not carry it.
- Delivery is confirmed by a one-time code shown to the sender and entered by the driver at handoff.
5. Fares and payment
PakaPaka does not process payments. Any fare shown or agreed — a Bike or Car price, a parcel amount, an extra for a route deviation — is a private arrangement directly between the passenger/sender and the driver, paid however they agree between themselves. PakaPaka is not a party to that payment and has no ability to refund, dispute, or reverse it.
6. Safety, prohibited use & reporting
- Follow all applicable traffic and safety laws. Do not use PakaPaka while impaired.
- Do not use PakaPaka for any unlawful purpose, or to harass, threaten, or defraud another user.
- If something goes wrong — an accident, unsafe behavior, a suspicious parcel, fraud, a lost item, or anything else — report it from within the app. PakaPaka reviews every report submitted.
7. Account suspension
PakaPaka may suspend or reject an account that fails document verification, receives a credible safety report, or breaches these Terms. A suspended or rejected driver cannot publish, accept, or start trips. PakaPaka will tell you why, where it is able to.
8. Liability
PakaPaka is provided as a way for local residents to find and offer rides and parcel carrying among themselves. Because a driver's vehicle, route, and driving are entirely their own, PakaPaka is not liable for a driver's conduct, a passenger's conduct, or the outcome of any ride or parcel arranged through the app, except where PakaPaka's own negligence directly causes loss. Nothing in these Terms limits any right you have that cannot be limited under Indian law.
9. Changes & grievances
PakaPaka may update these Terms and this Policy as PakaPaka grows; continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the update. Concerns under India's Information Technology Rules, like any other report, can be raised using Report a problem in the app or by writing to pakapakashare@gmail.com. PakaPaka aims to acknowledge a complaint within 24 hours and resolve it within 15 days.
